Testimonials

Fortunately some of us will never know what it is like to be homeless, others are all too familiar with the uncertainty and insecurity of not having a place to call home.  While this state of being would be hard for most adults, it proves even more difficult for children.  Studies indicate that Homelessness has a lasting impact on a childs security as well as their social development, which lends itself to a potentially devastating cycle...so what can we do to help?

A small donation of time, money, clothing, or opportunity will help to move a family from homelessness to hopefulness. We simply help people to Start Over...
we dont perpetuate homelessness...we instead work for the solution...one family or one person at a time. We are here to help those that are willing to be helped find their way to Starting Over....If you are looking for a Charity to support, or a cause to get behind, read a few testimonials or stop by one of our Transitional homes to see what a hand-up can do.
Testimonial:   1. A formal or written statement testifying to a particular truth or fact  2. A written affirmation of anothers character or worth. 3. Something given as
a tribute for a persons service or achievement.

HI MY NAME IS SANDRA AND MY STAY HERE AT STARTING OVER  HAS BEEN VERY SPIRITUAL AND UPLIFTING. WHEN I FIRST ARRIVED HERE, I HAD 6 MONTHS SOBER AND CLEAN. I WAS NERVOUS AND SCARED AT THE SAME TIME. ABBYE AND THE LADIES THAT WERE HERE WELCOMED ME WITH OPEN ARMS. WHEN I GOT HERE I HAD NO JOB, NO MONEY, MY PARENTS HAD TO PAY MY RENT AND HELP WITH GROCERIES FOR THE FIRST 2 MONTHS…TALK ABOUT HUMILITY. MY JOURNEY STARTEDTHE NEXT DAY, WHEN I HIT THE STREETS LOOKING FOR A JOB. TARGET CALLED ME IN FOR AN INTERVIEW AND HIRED ME AS A CASHIER. THAT WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE. NEXT MONTH ON THE 14TH, WILL MAKE A YEAR THAT I HAVE BEEN AT STARTING OVER. MY SOBRIETY DATE IS 08-14-08 AND I AM ON FIRE FOR RECOVERY. I HAVE A GREAT SPONSOR, I GO TO 3 TO 4 MEETINGS A WEEK AND I HAVE A HIGHER POWER WHO IS AN AWESOME GOD. HE WATERS ME EVERYDAY SO THAT I MAY GROW.THE PATH THAT I AM ON IS GOD’S SPIRITUAL PATH. I WILL END BY SAYING THAT IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR RECOVERY AND WANT A LOT OF SPIRITUALITY, COME TO STARTING OVER.

Hi, my name is Nancy Gaskins and i live at Rita's house of recovery. I moved in may 5th 2009. My stay here has been wonderful. I am a member of Narcotics Anonymous and my clean date is June 25th 2008. I went to a rehab and then moved here for the structure and foundation that i knew i needed.

My stay here has been enjoyable. All the women here are very much into their own recovery as well as helping others. Spirituality is a big part of my program and this house is a wonderful place to grow in that. My recovery involves helping others, going to meetings, having a sponsor and giving back. This house is a big proponent of all the aspects of recovery and has really been a key part in my own recovery.

I live and love recovery and living here as only been a blessing. Sober livings are not just for a place to live. They are for growth in our recovery. Safety and a loving environment. All the women here have been wonderful and we all help each other. Our house manager is awesome and her care and love for us goes being her job.

My experience here at Ritas house has been delightful and that is probably why i still live here after 9 months. I love recovery and i truely love this house and the ladys in it.

                                                                                               Sincerely,
                                                                                                    NANCY

Hi,

My name is Debbie and I am an alcoholic and addict. I spent 9 months at rehab and was afraid to go out and remain sober. What a blessing my new home is. I live at Starting Over Inc and my life has gotten miraculously wonderful. I attend 3 or 4 meetings per week and live in a beautiful home with 9 spiritual, lovely women. I used to isolate, but now I am busy and making friends. I love this place.

Sincerely,

Debbie

My name is Ui, Two years ago I came into recovery because of a domestic violence situation.  Through an associate at work I connected wth a DV shelter that took me in. It was there that I attended my first AA and NA meeting.  I later came to Starting Over (Rita's House) and the comfort and safety of this home has allowed me to have silent moments with my maker and Higher Power, and this I seek daily so that I may draw closer to knowing Him and His characer, after all it was by His grace that I was saved from the gates of hell, a hell that I creatd through my selfishness.
